The 5th ITS Forum ITS Security & Safety Applications – ITS SSA was held on the December 12. 2008. in the Ministry of sea, traffic and infrastructure, Zagreb, Croatia.

The chairman was assistant professor Sadko Mandzuka, DSc and the opening word  was stated by the president of ITS Croatia association, professor Ivan Bosnjak, DSc and president of Croatian Road Society – Via Vita, Zeljko Vivoda, BSc.

The Forum participants were scientist, experts and students and the presenters were international experts in ITS area regarding safety and security.

Zdenko Kljajic, BSc from ''Ericsson Nikola Tesla’’ company presented an interesting lecture about the new technology called emergency cell broadcast messaging for the purpose of public and traffic safety.

The application of video surveillance systems in transport safety and security was presented by Mr. Velimir Ostoic, BSc from ''Adriatic zastita projekt'' company. He indicated the importance of the systems interoperability and open standard policy.

Mr. Daniel Lesisz from company called ''Teleste’’, Finland, held a short presentation of possible applications of video surveillance in urban traffic management.

Mr. Frano Svalina, BSc has focused his presentation on critical infrastructure surveillance and experiences of  ''Tehnozavod Marušić’’ company form Zagreb.

An interesting lecture on ''Intelligent Transportation Systems and road safety’’ was presented by Ljupko Simunovic, DSc. He concluded that one of the main objectives in achieving road safety conditions is increase in road traffic determinism.
